During Nathan's childhood, he was very quiet due to his parents telling him to shut the hell up even if he was going to tell them something important. His parents would constantly blame him for being so noisy that they would even put tape on his mouth. He was traumatized and because of that, he preferred to stay quiet to save his skin from other people. Nathan promised himself to never be like his parents, addicted to drugs and other illegal shits that is seen on the television. He was mentally and physically abused by his parents, saying something that didn't suppose to hear, every day after school. Nathan wanted to be a better person rather than be stuck behind the cells like his parents.

It was recently that his parents were sentenced to jail for life because of all the things they have done to their lives and to HIS life. Nathan was later given to his aunt who is very dear to him, sometimes he would think that he wished that his mother was his aunt, sweet and gentle. He became less depressive about his life and began moving forward, seeing himself with a bright future.

Not to be optimistic about his future but that's how he visualize it whenever his aunt encourages him about something. He continued his schooling, unfortunately during his time with his parent side, his attitude and his quietness greatly effected his grades, almost dropping him. Nathan didn't want to become a burden to his aunt so Nathan continued his schooling even though he hated it so much with burning passion.

He's been staying at Gravity falls for five years, reason? He got tired of his parents and used his savings to get out. Nathan finally had the courage to stand up for himself and runaway, he couldn't handle the pain anymore, it was too unbearable. He started working as a sales clerk at the mini market to earn money for himself and pay the bills, probably.
