It lay there waiting exactly where he'd left it. The door that should have been gone. Somehow, it had been piecing back together, patches sewn together and stapled like some kind of Frankenstein monster. Shadow tendrils leaked from the edges, staining the walls around it like a growing and spreading sickness, threatening the more ordinary doors around it.
Inside, the same horrible broken landscape. Pieces of land that had greyed over floating broken over an abysmal darkness below that shimmered like black water, everything else pitch black nothingness. The only way to progress seemed to be down, into the waters that seemed to flicker with brief images of some kind.

Henry walked up to the door with the Demon bird next to him.. The door screamed unwelcoming presence.. But he had to get this done and over with.. They had to get that information to put the world as it should belong.. not controlled by some nuisance human-gods. He grabbed the handle began to turn.. The inky petrified echoing water... Monsterous land strewn about in front of him... He gave a small gasp, Memories flashing back, they were taking a dangerous task fighting this thing.. opening themselves to be attacked by it... Hopefully it wouldn't recognize their presence.. Hopefully they'll face whatever monsters lie in this domain, and get the hell out... Hopefully the information was there.
Walking in he spoke softly, "Smells deadly awful in here.... What is even that.." Made disgust faces, before focusing back on Corbin. "Should we stay together or split up? No telling how deep we have to go.. Find the origin of memories....If you see a silver flame, try to grab it... There's something about it he holds dear.." Yeah.. he wanted to barf and run out the door.. But Dammit! He didn't face the Time God just to quit! |

you think I'm showy but i'm not at all This was the absolute worst part of this venture, but it was a necessary one. If we can find what we need from here then we'd be golden!
...Assuming we can find it and get out safely.
Henry was the one to open the door, but I was the first inside, pushing past the Phobian. It was a tad bit different than I remembered; a lot more...more...broken. If I ever found the bastard who done this...
"Sticking together would be safer." I replied, making my way to the edge of the land we were standing on. That water sure looked welcoming, but compared to everything else in this desolate hell? We'd have the best luck going down there. "A silver flame? Got it."
I stood back up, quickly pulling out my phone and sending a quick message to the cafe. If I were to die then I wanted them to know how I really felt.
"The longer we stand up here, the more likely this place is to notice us...hope you know how to swim." With a split second of hesitation, I lept off the side and into the waters below.

Sticking together.. Right.. They should do that... He stared at the world just plain disgusting fighting the fears rising within him.. Who knows what this thing could sense from them.. Especially in its own Mindscape. "Swimming.... Right.." He commented really really not wishing to swim in the darkie depths of the sea.. Couldn't they just go over? Through a boat or... make it drain out.. nope, just diving right on it... Guess any changes be noticed by the Demon.. Fine.. Game is.. Game is. Taking off his coat exposing more skin, and the white cottong shirt underneath.. He jumped in.. beginning to swim up the section.. The liquid completely chilled and broken in essence.. He kept his eyes out for any movement, dipping underneath if something just happened to come too close. |

Down Corbin and Henrywent, the whater thick, gripping them, impossible to see through. Not really water at all, more like a liquid darkness sucking, suffocating... and then dumping them uncerimoniously to the ground. The sky overhead that same darkness liquid. Around d them, a dark maze of crackled black marble hallways, stairs leading in weird directions, some sideways and upside down. Trees grew out of the walls, beautiful obsidian trees with purple glass leaves. Doors grew out of each tree, every single door unique, the place messy and stretching on out of sight. The place was huge, but still here. Still buried here in the darkness... the current hallway held a set of ten doors before curving our of sight. These doors seemed heavily damaged and twisted, labeled with beautiful cursive that glowed a gentle blue.
"Wake up. Ginger asshole. Corbin friend? Caelum. Breakfast with Corbin. Don't Leave Me." All the labels seemed to point to recent memories, the older ones further in. Doors with names such as Corbin or Henry each seemed to have a uniquely colored string for each person. Orange for Henry, purple glimmering for Corbin, and more. Those with multiple strings for multiple people. It was weirdly organized and chaotic at the same time.
The hall split in three directions. One hall was strange, glitchy and fading in and out of existence, but smaller than the others. A second hall was twisted full of roots and thorns with white stripes down the floor. The third was the longest and looked.. rather ordinary by comparison.

He at first didn't recognize where the visual of this icky thick black goo.. had come from.. Suffocating, attempting to consume everything.. Then he did, was this a reminence of the memories of the void? Did Damian actually recall that much in his inner conscience? Or was this from something else all together, leftovers of just normal Demonic memory lose? He felt a tinge of guilt, but it was soon consumed by panic when it began twisting and forcibly pulling them under dumping them into a room.. With it on top alive and deadly.. Mumbling to himself loud enough for Corbin to hear. "Go Swimming he says... Last time I'll be trying your idea... We could have easily done something else." He wiped whatever leftover muck still on his body.. Looking around to just see where they managed to end up. Were these Doors?
He picked himself up getting a closer look noticing the words. His eyes squeezing looking closer.. Wait.. Ginger Asshole? Who the hell.. Ginger as the person.. Shit.. He meant him? Then Caelum.... Caelum? Where did he recall that name, right the Cafe owner. Huh, no wonder Damian was still alive, lucky for them.. well Corbin. He rubbed his hair thinking about it, best not let Corbin see the ginger one... He'd "These are memories... But too recent." A shake of his head, we'd best be moving deeper... Way deeper... He felt his skin crawl just the thought...
Green eyes taking notice about the various halls.. Great one barely standing... One filled with thorns and Death.. Then a long one. He pointed to the long one, "That seems to lead deepest and most stable.. Think we should go there.... " Really his gut was telling him the glitchy, but that was too damn dangerous.. He was too damn a coward to bother.

I tried to swim back up to the surface, to try and escape the darkness, to tell Henry not to follow suit, but it was all in vain.
Great, not a minute in this twisted prison and I already offed myself. Good job, Corbin! You've done great! You stupid demon--!!.
"Oww..." ...Okay, never mind. Instead of drowning I was just thrown onto a floor. This was tonnes better. "Oh excuse me, princess, did you get your imported Venetian silk undershirt stained?"
I pushed myself up from the ground and dusted myself off. This area was eerily beautiful; pitch black trees, accented by the light blue on the doors and the coloured strings strewn around. It was amazing he still had all of this here...the only question was whether or not any of these doors had anything behind them...
"Yeah..?" I took a moment to look around the area. The one Henry was talking about did seem pretty stable and safe, but when has anything the players done been Stable and Safe? Though compared to the glitch fest and the overgrown wonderland, safe and stable was probably the best one to start with. "...Yeah. Hopefully we can find something in here."
I headed down the hallway, not bothering to wait for that phobian..

The hallway was more ordinary indeed, and also the longest of the three. The strings they recognized didn't even reach al, the way, ending partway down, replaced with other strings, a rotten black sickly one, a thin light blue, and a few other varying ones that looked like wires instead of twine. Down there, more halls split off, but they looked damaged, some full of locked up doors and cracks and rot, others covered in those inky shadows, being slowly consumed. One thin hall seemed to go off and meet up with the other, twisted root hall from before.
The first section of the hallway had some interesting titles. It seemed to start pretty far back, some titles listing cave ins, meeting Henry, things like that. The section that met with the twisted hallway had a large gold and silver door with a triangle on it, the knob an eye, and it was the only one with no title and only a single glimmering gold string that led off towards the twisted hallway. The main hall however was blocked off where it led towards the wires and such by a large amount of thick obsidian roots, as if something was trying to stop them or force them to go around.

Hallways being decayed and eaten, wires, and shadows everywhere. Poor kid, I couldn't even begin to imagine how this all felt for him..
Eventually we came upon the end of the line. The hallway split, the main hallway blocked off by thick roots while the side hallway appeared to lead to the more twisted one. Great.
I walked closer to the roots, investigating the gaps. Didn't seem like anything I could shift into could fit, unfortunately. There was always the option of brute force, but I didn't want to ruin the Mindscape any more than I had to..
"Alons-y, Henry." Small hallway it was. I headed down the offshoot, stopping a few feet before the door. I tried my best to ignore the doors lest curiosity got the better of me, but this door...triangles, gold, and an eye. It had to be Bill and I wanted to know why.
...No, we had to find that Silver Flame.
That, and poking around seemed like a very bad idea.
"...You don't happen to know anything about this door, do you Henry?" Curiosity killed the cat. Good thing I'm a bird.

Before Henry could answer, there was a loud rumbling, and roots slammed into the ground, seperating the two. Forcing Corbin to continue. Should Henry backtrack, he would find the other entrance to the twisted root hall blocked as well, leaving only the glitchy one remaining...

I glanced between the door and the hallway. On one hand, those roots were not a good sign of things to come and I should probably get my tail feathers moving...but on the other hand, what if this was a sign to go through the Bill door?
...Or it could be a trick.
Probably a trick.
So I shifted into a raven, now that I didn't have to worry about Henry, and made my way down the hallway.
...
...Before swooping around and coming back.
This might have been important! This might be exactly where the silver flame was, just look at that door you can't tell me that it wasn't something important!
So shifting back, I put my hand on the knob and opened the door.

The handle turned, and the door crumbled into small gold bricks that fell over his feet, the world around him changing. In seconds, he would be floating in a weird house, the sound of a toilet flushing. In the middle of the room, a very human, somewhat more feminine Damian stood facing Bill. The Bill, though neither seemed to notice Corbin. Damian was smiling, relaxed, talking as if with an old friend. Talking about a deal...
A hand held out. This was a memory, perhaps the very memory of the deal he'd made that had caused him to become a demon. A deal made, two favors owed to the triangle in exchange for becoming a demon. Two favors, even though Bill only asked for one, but Damian offered out of joy. This memory of how Bill had been given full power... The blue flames circling Damians hand, his eyes wide with awe... and then Corbin was back in the hall. The door stood where it had, the handle hot under his palm.

There was Damian and Bill, just like I suspected...they were talking, chatting, and...he made a contract with Bill? Why would he make a contract with Bill??
That--!! ...Makes a lot of sense, actually.
Why else would a Player become a demon?
But...why would he want to become a demon? Why would he condemn himself to this? And why would he help Bill like that??
I knew trying to interfere would be pointless, so I let everything play out.
Eventually the scene ended and I was back in the hall, still clutching the doorknob. So he was the reason Bill came back full force...even here it seemed like the players liked to cause chaos..
"...Ow-? Ow--!! Jesus Christ--!!" I pulled my hand off the knob, giving it a quick shake. Owww...I really hope that doesn't blister up...
Giving the door one quick glance, I made my way down the hallway.

Further down the hall, Corbin would find himself in the twisted root hallway. More doors with those wild and beautiful trees, large, more fantastical. Gem like ravens flit from tree to tree, singing strange songs as they went. Some were laughing, some were crying, all in varying volumes. These doors were more elaborate too, the whole hall having a more purposeful design, as if someone had built it by design. The threads of orange and purple were more prominent here, with that gold thread from the previous door very sparse here, only showing up on rare occasions. A glimmering light blue one did the same, running always parallel to the gold thread. Some of the doors here were more secure, heavy doors painted with a shushing sign that seemed to wink in a suggestive manner, probably best not to open those.
There were so many doors. Doors splattered with blood, one covered in ice and chains labeled "wendigo" and a bunch in a row that were covered in scales and blood and warmth. They all had a bright red string between them, all labeled things like "curtis kidnap" and "dreaming with curtis". The first few, especially "kidnap" was covered in blood with another of those shushing winky faces.
Further down the hall, even more. "meeting corbin" was there, with a bunch of glued on macaroni noodles, not hard to guess what that memory was. For some reason, the red string was there too though, tangled with corbins purple string... then there was a cold white door labeled "meeting jacob" and another door full of shadows called "save henry" and one covered in gems called "leah, I'm sorry" and so many many more. That leah one held a single white string that seemed to just lay there, connecting to nothing. Jacobs door seemed to connect to another with a suture thread labeled "go away jacob". There were doors that stretched further down, a lot of the ones Henry's thread led to were all cracked and broken. "Drink with henry", "I'm sorry"... There was a couple with a yellow frayed thread that went to a old fashioned door "atonix kidnap" yet it didn't seem damaged like the other kidnap doors. Jeez.. why were there so many labeled kidnap? Atonix, curtis, wendigo...
It just... kept going further down. One direction led to the blocked entrance, but the other end...
Well, it depended on how curious the bird was.

you think I'm showy but i'm not at all I thought this would be an easy task, but the deeper I went the harder it got to continue.
Everything about the hall, about his Mindscape, was just so sad and melancholic. From the trees, to the birds- ravens at that, to the doors and their labels..
No one should go through what he did.
"Kidnapping, wendigos, Curtis..." I muttered to myself, examining each door as I passed. Part of me wanted to see every door, to understand what happened to made Damian who he was! But the other part of me knew that was a terrible idea for numerous reasons; time, privacy, and the fact that I didn't think I could handle it..
I tried my best to avoid temptation, but it was hard. Especially when I seen the door labeled "Meeting Corbin". How long ago was that now..? Months or years, I couldn't remember...
There were a few moments where I thought about opening that door, but instead I kept going, trying to ignore the raising curiosity.
I tried to focus on the hall itself instead and how ungodly long it seemed. How much longer until I reached the end? Or until I found that flame..?
...Hopefully it was deeper down the hall and not in any of the rooms I passed...
