Not many ventured this deep into the forest, or dared present themselves upon his holy ground. The unnaturally large tree twisting upwards, the split in the center an entrance to the even larger internals. The ground around the tree was completely flat, set in a clearing, the trees around carved with symbols of ancient Mayan culture and praises to the bats within. And there were many to praise. They filled the trees at night, hunting for a feast, and in the morning filled the internals of their home in thick sheets.
Not ordinary bats, no. Gigantic bats, the size of children, feasting on not just insects but whatever decently sized game they could take down. Rabbits if they were alone, or deer and coyote in packs. Proof of their feast lay in the bones covering the area around the tree, preventing everything except their home from growing within thirty feet. They roosted now in the branches of the large tree, with the setting sun on their wings warming them, preparing for the nights hunt. The internals of the tree where much larger, impossibly so, as if bending the laws of space and time to create a miniature dimensional 'bleed'. A complex network of earthen tunnels had been smoothed out, and after a downward spiral through an impossibly large canyon, one would come to stand in a wide stone room with smooth floors. Everything glittering with hints of ancient wealth and depictions of an impossibly large bat, a tribute to a god. And the god himself?
Lying in wait, the largest bat of the brood, enough to dwarf the average human by an extra foot, hanging just over the tunnel that lead from this large first room into deeper recesses. Watching the trickle of a small decorative river through the middle of the room, listening to the sounds of his brood rising in preparation for their daily hunt, and thinking over the rituals upcoming, and the extensions of his plan. Informed by one of his followers of another interested party, Zotz lay in expectation of his soon to be visitor.

Caelum had set a meeting with someone, his followers were unsure of this but they trust their leader into handing the baby to the god that was living in the holy tree. When the car stopped in front of the sign "Enter at risk", he opened the door and the Angel held the baby and the sword to him. He ordered his followers to wait for him until the meeting is over if he didn't come back till sunrise, that will be the time to go look for him. The baby was wrapped in clean linen cloth and so is the sword.
As he entered the forest, he couldn't help but feel uneasy from the eyes darting towards him, especially to the newborn. He was taking his time to walk, not wanting to agitate the bats that had surrounded him now. When he arrived at the tree, he took a deep breath and entered its bark, The townsmen seem to be fond of his presence, artifacts, writings, prayers, it was all over the tree. And that's when he saw the bat himself, Zotz.
The baby was sleeping silently on his arm as he observes the bat, "Thank you for meeting on short notice." he started off, "I would like to discuss a business proposal with you if you don't mind, and as a token of my gratitude I will offer you, him." he said, exposing the baby to the bat. He placed the sword in front of the altar and removed the cloth as well. "This is the heirloom weapon that was passed to the child, I believe it was an Artifact? That absorbs the blood of its enemies if it does the weapon becomes stronger." he explained.
"And as for the child, well, he came from a family of Hunters. Very skilled in combat especially in Darkness. The rest is for you to find out. We don't want to ruin the secret now do we?" he asked him, smiling.

Zotz could feel it the moment the car came to rest, and the visitor stepped into the limits of his territory.
He could taste the blood of those maggot munchers in the air, and the fur on his back bristled with agitation. Sensing his feelings, even the bats seemed to become agitated, flitting from branch to branch, watching the man and child that entered closely, fangs bared, hissing, squeaking. But for now they didn't swoop or attack, simply watching, making it clear that the man was beginning his transaction on very thin ice.
Zotz sniffed the air, curling his lip as his eyes came to rest on the man that had entered. He knew the one scent above all others, save for those Hellhounds... But this was one he hated the most. He would need to remember to clean the disgusting scent out of his cave once the wretch was gone.
"Pelaná..." The word dripped with all the disgust, as if he was trying to remove a foul taste in his mouth through speech. One didn't need to understand the ancient language to tell the level of insult behind it. "What is bringing a filth like you here?" Eyes a bright ruby shade were fixated on the man, ready at any moment to tear him to pieces with his brood. They wouldn't even eat him, wary of the flesh, but instead tear him to shreds and cast the mess to flame to cleanse it away completely.
For now, though, he listened. His followers had yet to fail him, had proven their worth in desperation. He would respect their efforts to arrange this meeting, so long as the man interested him. And interest he did. He paid some mind to the blade, precious thing, an heirloom? An artifact? His fur bristled, but the long face was impossible to discern expression from, too inhuman to draw meaning.
Still, his eyes rested much longer on the child, an intensity to the stare, drawn in. Skilled in darkness? It could simply be one of the angels brood, a mistake to bring into his enclave. Or it could be a key, something quite fascinating. It had been a long time since he'd brought one so young into his following, and raised it. They made for such loyal followers, if trained right, ready to bleed for their god. And he was a sucker for secrets and mysteries...
Silence, tension, wrapped around the air for far too long. It may have seemed at any moment the bat god would be ready to descend, to rip him apart and his treasures. Indeed, it was quite sudden when the wings snapped open, and the body dropped to the ground with a trembling THUD! Slowly rising, crawling forward... But then, with each step, the body melting away. Dark robes, long silver hair, pointed ears and fangs, and a single horn. The eyes a softer shade now, but his face all sharp and angles that made it clear he was not so fragile, not so delicate as the slender form full of grace might have appeared.
Black nails, a thin hand extended towards the child. "Let me see." No question, a command. This was his territory, and he expected the man to obey, to allow him to see the child firsthand, and inspect what he was being offered. If permitted, he would untuck the child further from its confines, cradling it with the expertise of a centuries old parent and a surprisingly gentle touch as fingers graced the side of its face. "And what it is you are... requesting in return?"

Caelum absolutely didn't like his tone, the insult in that dead language, he needs to tolerate him. He needs this for himself, and nothing else. He was unfazed from the bat landing, he kept his ground holding thebbaby in arm. The sound woke him up, quickly the man looked at the baby and smiled, cooed him a little before looking up to once bat now a human. He continuebto smile at him, he looked like someone called 'Dracula', strange. But this no time recalling any good memories he needs to focus on the deal, focus on him, and focus on the baby. The threat is growing, but he kept calm. When the man had commanded him to hand the baby to him, he gladly did so. Gently, he held the baby towards him and took a few staps back, giving them space.
The baby was about to cry until he saw a new face. Curiousity had taken over the small face when it saw its long nails looming over him. His tiny hands, showing a star tattoo inside of his right hand, began to reach for it, a smile appeared on his face when he tried to do so. The bat asked him once more, ah yes, he seems to like the gift he had given him. "I would only request a treaty between you and me, the Angel whom had resided here died a while ago, her whole cult is now at chaos. What I am trying to say is that, I'm asking for a partnership." he explained. As simple as that, he wnted to make a binded between the bat god and to himself. "I won't have to come here if that is your concern, I can ask somebody here whenever discussing matters." he said.

What a curious little thing, covered in the scent but possibly clean of it. They offered him this gift, much as the old ones had once done to gain his favor. An artifact and an infant. This one was wise in the old ways, and it pleased him. Angel perhaps, but with some sense of respect and decency that those he'd seen before had lacked. Some of the harshness softened, especially in sight of the young blood in his arms, and he had no qualms with the infant grasping his digits. So oddly gentle for one who proudly claimed to once be reveled as a god of a civilization drenched in blood. His hands were by no means clean, but even he had the sense to treat an infant with such care. He had raised so many before, both humanoid and of his brood.
"Partnership..." He repeated the word in that thick accent, lifting a colder gaze towards the man, the gentleness vanishing for the moment. He was pleased to hear of the angels death, though puzzled. Why would this man reveal such a thing, such a weakness? His eyes calculating, searching for a hint of desperation in the man with a centuries long gaze. Was that it? A need for the protection of a growing power? So that their own could mend themselves? He was not a fool, and would not simply delve into the depths of a deal without details.
Stepping forward, heels clacking along the stone covered floor as he drew closer to the man. "And what is it you are wanting in this... partnership? Protection? Sanctuary? Food? Power? And what is you are giving back?" A partnership implied a two way deal, a continuation of the gifts he had been offered, or some other substitution. The child and the artifact were simply a means to get the mans foot in the door. Now he would have to bargain for what he desired, but at least he had the bat gods ear now.

The man simply nodded when Zotz had repeated his words, his gaze shifted to him. The softness in his eyes immediately vanished when he landed on him, he stared back at him, perfectly calm and composed. He asked him once more, what is he trying to gain with this partnership? Very simple, really. "Yes, protection is all I ask, but not for power" he paused, taking a deep breath, "I can give you the authority, power, shelter, protection for him," he paused, looking at the child in his hands "-and to your kin. I can even get you out of this place. Although it may take some time, we're already working on how to bring the barrier down." he responded gently.
This may be the end deal, he just needs to be careful with his words. "That is my bargain if you wish for more, then I will gladly hear about it." he smiled once more, eyes in deep blue hue.

Sanctuary, protection, guardianship. Not such an unusual request, though the reasons changed from time to time. He had not suspected one of their breed to approach him with such desires, especially not in the interest of rising power, and it left him ill at ease. Suspicious. He was offering a lot for so little, which was either a sign of hidden design or respect. His eyes narrowed, prying for hints of a lie. Once satisfied, he looked down towards the child once more, idly stroking the side of its face with a slim finger. Time was not on his side. He'd need a method of acceleration, a means to put the child to use at a more rapid pace, just for a little while...
Ideas were already forming, the calculating look a sure sign that he was already coming to terms, to an agreement. One that needed to be lain out clear and concise before being solidified. "You will be having the name of Zotz and my followers, for the keepsafe of you and your brood. Clan. Whatever is word you use to wish for your followers. And you will extend this same keeping of safety for my brood, and this child." Amusement flicked across his gaze. He hadn't missed the fact the man had not included Zotz in that protection, but he did not seem to worry the least about it. "And you will bring this... barrier down, as you say. Allowing reach of mine beyond this cage."
These were the offerings brought, alongside those to gain his favor. He hummed, thoughtful as he toyed with the child's thin hair, running his thumb and forefinger over it. Details of his own could be managed outside of the deal. "You will carry mark of mine, as followers do. And you will send no other. You are one beginning of deal, you will be one to continue. I am not to dealing with other... extra member as liaison. But you will be reaching out to my follower to arrange. Are not welcome to be showing up without warning."
A hand would be held out, a shake to seal their agreement. Something he'd learned was commonplace in this era among businesses and the like, and his was not so different from a business.

He seemed convinced with everything he told him for such little exchange. No matter, he has everything under control. Until Zotz mention a mark- oh no, what kind of mark is talking about? Caelum closed his eyes for a moment, thinking about it. As soon as he opened his eyes, he smiled once more, "Unfortunately sir, I have to tell you that I am your ally, not a follower." he spoke, he risked it- he doesn't want to be bonded with this man. "I am sure that I will excel and do whatever you may request without being... watched. If I think such things then I wouldn't be the one coming here, now would I?" he reasoned, calmly.
Blue-hued eyes watching the man's eyes carefully. Waiting for a violent reaction to what he just said, should he say more? or should he say silent? Though, Zotz seems to appreciate his respect for him, knowing that Caelum is in fact in his territory. This may be his doom, or maybe his way to take more risks than chances.

Displeasure crossed the mans face, and for a moment his gaze sharpened, dangerous territory crossed. But then it smoothed, amused. Accepting the challenge of keeping things under control without the benefit of keeping close eyes on him. An easy enough task for a god, afterall. He kept his hand outstretched, the way he looked at the man suggesting every little secret was his, every little hidden truth would be exposed under his gaze. He saw everything.
"Very well. You will be of free.. but do not think I will not be aware if you are having... other intentions." Warning in his eyes, flashing, as his hand remained outstretched, waiting.

Caelum continue to keep his calm posture in front of the man, Zotz didn't like he had said and definitely the attitude he had shown him, but nevertheless, he was still but a gentleman to him. The way he looked at him, how his eyes trying to pierce his soul through his cold eyes. He will know his intentions, sooner or later. He knows everything, it is the matter of time that Caelum decided to stretch his hand towards him and gave him a firm handshake. Eyes darting back at Zotz, "It is a pleasure becoming your ally." he remarked before letting go.
"Would you like to name the child now, or later?"

As their hands entwined, jade flames lit and snaked around their hands, eyes blinking from within the flames, hands crawling out from them, clawing, reaching... all illusions it seemed, as they flickered away, Zotz's expression unchanging. Once he was done with the exchange, his eyes would drop to the infant in his arms, idly running long nails through the little ones hair, turning away. A name? He hummed in thought, cupping the child's cheek. "...Coatl..." A sense of humor in his eyes, a joke known only to him. A memory of a serpent, fallen, cursing his name, and he leaving a promise that one day it might return, but only by Zotz's will. Now seemed as good a time as any to bring back that name. The poor thing was long gone now...
His back turned to Caelum, a silent excusing for the man to make his way out at his own convenience as the 'god' headed inwards, plans ready and set in motion.

When both shook hands, jade flames lit up and snaked around their hands, stretching to their wrist then vanishing. It almost felt like an illusion. Caelum nodded when the name came out of his lips so gently, "Coatl Saros?" he suggested, still he kept the smile on his face. If Zotz had taken any appreciation to the other name, Caelum would simply nod and looked down at his watch, the same time Zotz turn his head towards him- waiting for him to leave. "I should get going. Please to meet you Zotz." he said, slightly bowing his head to him before turning his heel around and walk away.

Coatl Saros? He never understood this modern ages desire for additional names. Still, there was no harm in assisting the child in future efforts to blend in, and he nodded after a moment, repeating the name, tasting it with care. "Coatl Saros..." Amused, he waved off the mans exit idly. "Yes, yes." The man not worth the current time, this child needed to be inducted immediately. Celebrated. Introduced to Diego. The two would need to be close, lest the princes grow jealous of this new addition. Needed to be kept safe. Very safe. His.. vassal...
A twisted smile crossed the gods lips as he stepped into the recesses of his temple.
